Today's episode of Godzilla was quite good- the HEAT team travelled to the future, discovered that it was really screwed by numerous monsters apparently created by a scientist in the present. So our heroes journeyed back to the present and prevented that guy from unleashing his creations, and creating that terrible future. A bit rushed though, but cool! I felt like eating KFC so I went over to Seksyen 14 to tapau some, came home, ate, watched The Practice then went to Vasu's for a haircut. I needed petrol, but since BP has closed down for renovations I had to drive to PJ to get some, then go home. I lazed around a bit, started finishing up my OS work- called Mary and Choon a few times to get some hints, then went to sleep around 1 AM. Didn't get a chance to study :(

Some thoughts:
There are arguments for and against any idea, what matters is not whether the idea is right or wrong, but whether it is acceptable to the majority of people who may be affected by it. This problem is faced by any organisational institution. For e.g. that's why nobody can possibly expect the government to totally remove all bumiputra special rights/privelages, because the majority of the bumiputra population is against that- the only workable idea is a general phasing out of such rights over a course of maybe 20 years, and I'm glad those Keadilan members that I do know support that. Its a pity those people who made a big issue about it b4 couldn't see it, and now I read about people not knowing that Malaysia is an Islamic country?? What's going on? I remember learning that in primary school, and if govt taught it to me, then it must have been a well-known fact then.

Expectations for tomorrow:Datacomm in the morning, then buy something for Sue-Yi and Mylini before OS prac. Hopefully some CS in the evening too...

Saturday, October 6, 2001 (11:59 p.m.)

Bit of a relaxing day today, one too many lately I think- exam is very soon! I watched Colombo and A Night at the Roxbury this morning, both are great shows which I want to watch again maybe if I'm luck it'll repeat after my exams...after that around 2pm I played Pool of Radiance for a while, then started work on my Python program for OS Assignment, took only an hour and a half to do it (lucky me!)- I called Giant to see if he wanted to work on it with me, but he was busy doing C++. I watched Xena- why on earth is she helping Gauls fight Caesar? Did I miss something? First China, now Gauls? She'll go India one of these days I bet. I had dinner then played a bit more of Pool of Radiance, then read the OS message board- one of the postings by an Australian student inspired me to write a program to simulate the answer for one of the OS questions, I managed to finish it b4 1AM with Choon's help. I called Mary a few times to discuss some questions, then slept around 2 AM.

For once I actually spent the whole day at home- how rare indeed.

Expectations for tomorrow:Godzilla! Then I finish up OS, then study OS!

Friday, October 5, 2001 (11:59 p.m.)

Woke up at 9am today, got ready and went to get petrol- BP was closed(!) so I tried Shell, but there were a dozen TNB trucks all needing petrol, so I gave up and went to kolej on an almost empty tank. I reached kolej at 10 something- HK, Ian, Mary, Michelle and Terence were in the RL busy with their OOSE, so I copied my file, stayed a while then went to ask Andrija some stuff, then showed Mary my Sims family hehe, before going home at 11am (had to stop at Petronas to get some petrol). I immediately started finishing up my Rose diagrams and documents, then started printing- even with a brand new cartridge+servicing I was still getting intermittent blank lines/pages! I experimented a bit and eventually managed to solve the problem somewhat- my printer can't print spooled jobs apparently. Hmph. After prayers I went to kolej, reached at 3pm to find the room full- Choon Ling, HK, Terence, Ian, Michelle & Sue-Yi...I stayed a bit until Chelim came to collect his Pool of Radiance CD, we talked a bit more then I went to the other RL to join WheelJack and Algy to do DataComm..hehe Karen came into the room and almost saw us copying from each other ;) For once I knew what to do, but it was quite a lot of stuff and I managed to finish just before 5pm, then slip it under Weng Ke's door. Andrija had gone home very early apparently, so I slipped my printouts under his door too. I went back to the RL, HK and Terence left shortly after, and it was just me, Ian, Choon Ling, Michelle and Giant hanging out in the RL, nobody was available for CS :( since they were still doing OOSE.

I stayed there until 7pm, which was when I went to MUSA to check results- my sister won, in fact almost her entire team won! Oh hang on a sec, Choon's vice pres won too, but I don't know her. The only one from Choon's team that I dislike and managed to win was his women's officer, and I have no idea why because she wants such crazy stuff- COMPULSORY self-defence classes for ALL female students, and FREE parking after 5pm for female students only. How offensive to both men and women! I'm sure independant women would feel insulted that they get free parking because they're supposedly 'weaker' and make easy targets if they walk to Indah Court after 5pm. But knowing how the majority of ppl our age think, all they see is that as long as they get benefits others don't, the reason why doesn't matter. Then again my sister is the president now- but she might be indifferent in this matter. I walked with Giant to Indah Court- unfortunately my car wasn't there because I parked outside kolej! I called my sister to tell her the results, she was surprised that Jason didn't tell her since he's in the vote countroom. I walked back to my car then went home. I watched Sliders, had dinner then Pui Mon called me at 10.36pm to talk about OS assignment- 20 mins later my card ran out! Hehehe..good thing Simon bought another 20AUD worth for me, so Mon called me back a couple of mins later and we talked until 11.20, then I talked to Georgi until 11.40pm which was when the h/p battery ran out. Darn! Hehehe, nvm I should save my cards for next time :) I called my sister again and we talked for quite a bit, then called Mary, and right now bericq with Mon and Georgi :)

Expectations for tomorrow:Finish OS assignment.

Thursday, October 4, 2001 (11:59 p.m.)

Picked up Ian at 10.30am today b4 going to kolej- surprisingly nobody was around 'cept us, I guess everybody was busy at home doing OOSE. I tapaued lunch from the kantin, and ate in the RL while Ian and Weng Ye did C++. After lunch I tried out the Rational Rose prog, its quite tricky to use and I spent quite a bit of time trying to get the 'Reverse Engineering' part of Rose to work- failed! Mr.Lim came at 11 something to install Rose on the other computers, he was in quite a sour mood (you know the mood u get when u're trying to install a program and keep getting install problems? Then u try, and try and try...), couldn't get Rose running on either of the win98 comps, but managed to install it on my comp (well, not my comp of course, but my preferred comp when I'm the RL, since it has all my TV shows inside) then he went back to his room. Weng Ye went off for a bit at 12, I think Ian also stepped out for a while to buy some food. Mr.Lim came with 2 of our half-juniors(Lina and Pei Pei) at 2pm so they could use the comps for Rosing, I wanted to vote and then rush to Low Yat- Ian declined my invitation to vote.

I was on my way to vote when I saw my sister talking to some ppl at the financial counter- she looked very busy so I wanted to say bye but she asked me to wait so after a few mins, we walked to MONSAS to vote (well, she voted already of course), and then walked to the comp.lab together so she could sign up for jobstreet.com.my, then we sat at the financial counter for a while then walked up to the RL so I could drop off my stuff and check on Ian's C++ problems, then we went thru the library to Sunway side to check up on CIMA and ABE courses- my sis wants to do some business courses during summer, I don't mind really but the timetable clashes with my Clayton plans. After that she went with me to the RL to pick up my stuff (so nice!) then I walked with her to the lecture theater, then went Low Yat. I really miss my sister, its nice to know she misses me too....I just wish she had a less busy schedule :( At least we spent some time together today :)

The drive to Low Yat was ok, though of course since I left at 4pm it was getting kinda close to jam time. As expected Pool of Radiance was there, I picked up 2 copies (one for Chelim) then searched for one hour for Rational Rose- no luck, so I gave up and went to my (former)regular shop in Imbi's basement, 'cos I know the guy there knows every app/game he has in stock and about those he doesn't have. You gotta a respect a pirate like that who knows what he's selling. He had it of course, but charged me RM10 for it, which is why I normally don't buy stuff from Imbi (Low Yat sells CDs for RM5). It was 5 something and I didn't want to leave at that time, the jams would kill me hehe so I went notebook shopping- found some good prices, but bottom line is I need RM5000 to get the notebook I want. Hopefully in December it'll be much cheaper. I left at 6 something, and reached home at 7pm.

Pool of Radiance was ok, but had some graphic problems. I started work on my Rose diagrams after Sliders, and kept on at it until 3.45am (with numerous calls to Ian, Mary and Sue-Yi), then stopped to work on DataComm until 4.40am, which was when I slept.

Expectations for tomorrow:Go to kolej after prayers to hand up work, maybe CS after that if the others are done.

Wednesday, October 3, 2001 (11:59 p.m.)

Reached kolej just after 10am today- LiHao, Choon and Ian were in the comp.lab doing C++, I couldn't login to the system so I decided to go to the RL to do work- Choon and Ian went with me. We camped there for quite a while, Mary joined us just b4 we went for DBMS at 1pm. Apart from a short break with Mary to buy some food- I bought a slice of banana cake and a chicken sandwhich (my lunch can u imagine :( ) the class was a tad dull 'cos I knew the Java programming part thanks to MIAD. After the lecture I went with Mary to the RL, Michelle and Ian came too...we worked on our C++ until 5 pm - Michelle looked very stressed and miserable, I don't blame her 'cos her subjects this sem are quite tough, assignments left and right :(...I walked Mary to her car at Indah Court, then she dropped me off back at kolej, I went back to the RL (only Ian was there), Darren came after a short while and the 3 of us stayed until 8.30pm, which was when we (along with Sue-Yi) went to Jaafar for dinner. Kah Wai came late, poor guy didn't even eat dinner, just had a drink...we left at 10pm and followed Kah Wai to send Darren home, then I sent Ian home before going home myself. I stayed up to watch Whose Line and Drew Carey, then Pui Mon called at 12.40am and we talked for 'bout 20 mins or so hehe :) I stayed up doing my C++ until 2 something then slept.

Expectations for tomorrow:Camp out in the RL with Mary helping with my Rose diagrams.

Tuesday, October 2, 2001 (11:59 p.m.)

Woke up at 6am today, and felt very tempted to sleep in again hehe..but I managed to get ready, eat breakfast and leave at 7.35am- bad idea as usual since I was stuck in the jam until 8.30am, but fortunately managed to park at Medan. Living where I am its kinda weird- either I go kolej before 7.30am else I can forget about going until 9am. When I want to go home I can either go back before 2pm, or 4-5pm, or 7.30pm onwards. No other time frame works. I talked to Chelim outside class this morning, then went for the DataComm tute, Weng Ke discussed Tute 9 which doesn't seem so bad, and after that I followed Geraldine and Justin upstairs to the library, and went to the RL with Geraldine. I started work on C++, turns out this template stuff is quite fun and easy..Terence, Mary, Choon Ling and Ian came at 11am, everyone stood around for a bit until Choon reminded Geraldine and me that we were missing DataComm class- we totally forgot! Hehe..luckily we were only 10 mins late. After class I went to the kantin to tapau food, bumped into some engineers, there was a really long queue so I settled for fried rice :(. I missed the welfare forum in LT7, by the time I found out about it it was too late :( Well I suppose its ok really since the issues I care about will never be taken seriously by the admin. I mean c'mon, why not have classes during Friday prayers if Muslims are the biggest minority in uni? Some things will never change..

I watched Transformers while eating in the RL, then resumed work until 2pm, then went for another DataComm class where he finished discussing Tute 10. After that Ian and I camped in the RL until close to 5pm (we even watched Thundercats), which was when I had to send Tirath home. I stopped by TMC to pick up some stuff, and Meidi-Ya as well...the 2 ladies who work there no longer seem to be there anymore :( I've gotten used to greeting them over the past few years. I reached home at 6 something, then continued with C++ until 9pm, to discover that Stargate has been replaced by a talk show! Grr...but nvm, I watched Sliders instead :) After that it was back to C++ again, I made lots of progress but discovered I need a much better interface..meaning more work! I called Mary for some debugging help, Choon called about OS, I even managed to bericq with Pui Mon for a bit, so long haven't talk to her..

Expectations for tomorrow:Skip all classes 'cept DBMS and try to finish C++!

Monday, October 1, 2001 (11:54 p.m.)

Amazingly enough Li Hao, Choon Ling and I stayed up until 4.30 AM (well I slept first, who knows what time the other two slept) doing DataComm! This is quite bad really, since it means I'm turning into a night person :( At least I managed to do a tute without copying- yay! I woke up at 6am, thought about going to kolej, then realised I would probably fall asleep in datacomm anyway, so I went back to sleep until 9am, got ready, had breakfast and reached kolej at 10.30am. I went to the RL, Mary was there looking all stressed over C++, which I haven't started work on yet..perhaps I should. I talked to her a bit, then went to 3.13 to talk to the other DataCommunists, I asked Weng Ke about the exam and he implied that there would be no complex maths questions like our tutes, mostly theori stuff like 'why this method better than that method?' etc. Not exactly good news...there's lots of theori! After that I stayed in the RL with Mary and Giant, Joe, Choon and Ian stayed a while b4 disappearing somewhere...Mary was too stressed to do work so it was just me and Giant doing OS tute 5. We managed to do quite a bit, yay!

The OS tute was ok- we did tute 6 and 5, unfortunately nobody in the class prepared anything 'cept me and Giant (malu!)- he's much better at this OS stuff than me, good thing too. After class I showed Zheng Chi the pictures of Halina, Harris and gang, then Terence thought me how to use the .css in our project- oh good news, the project deadline has been extended till after the exams! Yay! I left at 3pm and went to Subash for lunch, bought my printer ink then went home. I started the 4 hour d/l for the new Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds demo and fell asleep :( I really got to stop myself from sleeping during the day, its a very very bad habit. I woke up at 7.30pm, lazed around a bit, watched 70s Show, Raymond, had dinner, watched Sliders then played the demo- its so-so, graphics a bit dated...should be quite fun to play once its finished though, since you can build an army of jedi knights :) After that I went online, typing mails and stuff until 12.30, which was when I slept.

Expectations for tomorrow:DataComm in the morning (hopefully!) then maybe stay back in kolej. Maybe.
